Discreet, POWERFUL sound for Singapore's favourite lounge

The blown-glass sculptures in the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore's hotel bar are by the artist that gives the bar its name, Dale Chihuly. This stylish, upmarket space offers afternoon teas, bar bites and live music performances most evenings. The cocktail list consists of classics, as well as signature drinks, such as ‘In The End Of The World’ (Monkey Shoulder whisky, Fernet-Branca, coffee, orgeat and lime), not to mention an array of champagne cocktails and a respectable whisky collection.

Located right by the entrance of the hotel, it is a popular place to see and be seen and such pedigree requires a sound system of matching pedigree.

Alpha Acoustics, a well-known acoustics and AV consultant in Singapore was contracted to design and manage the ongoing upgrades and renovations of the hotel.

While conceptualising a powerful yet discreet solution for the new Chihuly Lounge, the experienced team at Alpha Acoustics engaged with Loud Technologies Asia to assist with proposing a design utilising K-array's range of unique speaker solutions.

An extensive study of different speaker models and combinations was carried out, with the final designs presented to key decision-makers in the form of a comparison demonstration on-site.

Besides the need to satisfy the exacting standards and aesthetic demands of the Hotel's design team, technical challenges needed to be overcome such as ensuring that speakers that were hidden behind thick fabric material of the wall cladding had enough headroom to allow for signal boosting at the higher frequencies to compensate for the damping of the fabric.

The final design was implemented by the awarded AV Integrator after a competitive tender process, and Loud Technologies Asia's engineering team provided support for final tuning and calibration of the speaker system's DSP equipped amplifiers.

Loud Technologies Asia specialises in addressing unique sound reinforcement needs for various spaces and venues. From large outdoor amphitheatres where a high degree of direct-weather resistance is required to indoor spaces where speakers need to be hidden away from sight, we have a solution for you.

As a specialist in architectural acoustics, we have supplied K-array sound systems to Koma restaurant in the Marina Bay Sands, The Shaw Amphitheater (Singapore Zoo), various churches and temples in Singapore and more.

We provide demonstrations from our extensive model lineup and inventory in stock for delivery at short notice.
